JETS OVERHEAD AND NEIL OSBORNE
•–Neil Osborne is currently producing an album for
Victoria's Jet's
Overhead.
The album is being recorded at the...
Smilin' Buddha
Enjoyment Complex.
54•40 signs with True North Records
•– March 2, 2005 - Canada breeds great rock bands. After more
than 20 years of consistently creating some of Canada's most recognizable
and memorable classic alternative rock, 54•40 just signed a deal
with Canada's longest running independent music label;
True
North Records. YES TO EVERYTHINGwill be 54•40's
11th full-length studio recording and will be released
June 14, 2005. It was produced, recorded and mixed by Warne Livesey (The
The, Midnight Oil, Matthew Good) at Bryan Adams' The Warehouse studio and
The Smilin' Buddha Enjoyment Complex which is 54•40's studio in Vancouver.
The band that penned such international classics as I Go Blind, Ocean Pearl and Baby Ran have also announced that guitarist Dave Genn, is now a permanent member of 54•40. Longtime band-mate and good friend Phil Comparelli has passed the axe duties on to Dave with his blessing. Dave Genn is best known for his six years spent with the Matthew Good band. Between 1995 and 2001 he played guitar, keyboards and co-wrote many of MGB's hit songs. His resume reads as long as his guitar. Dave's first JUNO was for playing/co-writing with punk legend Art Bergmann for "What Fresh Hell is This?" Dave has been playing live shows with 54•40 for two years and played guitar and co-wrote on the new release that will kick your ass.
54•40 ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF LONG
TIME GUITARIST PHIL COMPARELLI
•–Members of Canadian rock band 54•40 announce the departure
of long-time guitarist and friend Phil Comparelli
due to personal reasons.
Comparelli joined 54•40 in 1982 contributed to the band's reputation
as one of Canada's best (and longest running) live bands. He is praised
by former band mates Neil Osborne, Brad Merritt and Matt Johnson for
his contributions to 54•40 and the Canadian rock music scene. The guitarist's
powerful playing style helped to define the band's sound and could
be heard in his performances on 54•40's five platinum and gold albums,
award winning videos and hit songs including I Go Blind, Ocean Pearl,
Baby Ran, One Gun, SheLa, Since When, Casual Viewin' and One Day In
Your Life, as well as the band's 22 videos.
54•40 has enlisted Dave Genn, formerly of the Matthew Good Band, to take Comparelli's place in live performances. The members of 54•40 and their management thank Phil Comparelli for his friendship, his hard work and a shared commitment to making great music.
